Between traffic, work and family, getting to a gym in Dubai can feel like a second job. That's why more people are bringing the gym to them: a personal trainer who comes to your villa, apartment, building gym or the park around the corner. Here's how it works and what to expect from your first weeks.
How home personal training works
You tell us your goal, your area and the times that suit you. We match you with a trainer who specialises in that goal and already covers your part of the city. Your trainer arrives at the agreed time, runs a full session — usually 45 to 60 minutes — and leaves you with a plan for the days in between.
Sessions can take place:
- At home — a living room, terrace or garden is enough space for a complete workout.
- In your building's gym — most towers and communities have one, and a trainer gets far more out of it than you would alone.
- Outdoors — beaches, parks and community tracks are perfect from October to April.
Do you need equipment?
No. A good trainer can build strength, burn fat and improve mobility with bodyweight alone — push-ups, squats, lunges, planks and their many progressions. Many trainers also bring portable kit such as resistance bands, kettlebells, a suspension trainer or boxing pads. If you'd like to buy something for yourself later, a yoga mat and a set of bands are the best value.
What happens in the first session
Your first session is about getting to know you, not wearing you out. Expect your trainer to:
- Ask about your goal, your schedule, any injuries and your training history.
- Run simple movement checks — a squat, a push-up, a balance test — to see where you're starting from.
- Take you through a light, complete workout so you feel how sessions will run.
- Agree a weekly plan with you: how many sessions, and what to do on your own.
Who home training suits best
Home training works for almost everyone, but it's especially useful for:
- Busy professionals who can't lose an hour to driving and parking.
- Mums and dads who train while the kids nap or play nearby.
- Beginners who feel uncomfortable in a crowded gym.
- Anyone returning from an injury who needs close, one-to-one attention.
- Older adults who want to stay strong and steady on their feet.
How many sessions per week?
Two to three sessions a week is the sweet spot for most people. Two is enough to build a habit and see real changes; three speeds things up. If your budget allows only one session, your trainer can give you short homework workouts so you keep moving between visits.
Getting started
The hardest part is the first message. Tell us your goal, your area and when you're free, and we'll match you with a trainer who comes to you — anywhere in Dubai.
